Before Installation

Before attempting to install these products, visit the Symantec Operations Readiness Tool (SORT) to validate your system configurations. SORT will give you access to the latest product patches, the latest Cluster Server application and replication agents, or the latest Dynamic Multhi-pathing (DMP) Array Support Libraries and Array Policy Modules (ASL-APMs).

After Installation

Install Veritas Operations Manager (VOM) to manage and report on the Storage Foundation server just deployed. Veritas Operations Manager is a comprehensive management platform that helps you optimize your data center assets, provide centralized visibility and control, ensure availability, scale operations, increase storage utilization, and maintain compliance.

For users downloading Cluster Server running in VMware environments, the binaries include a plugin for the VMware vCenter console. Veritas Operations Manager may be used in addition to the vSphere plug-in to configure and manage Cluster Server.

Hardware Compatibility List
  • In order to support the usage of VMDK files in Cluster File System, an Array Support Library (ASL) is required to recognize the disk as a VMwareDisk. Downloaded ASLs.
  • To use Cluster File System with the VMFS multi-writer option, Coordination Point Servers (CPS) must be used for split-brain protection
    (see Storage Foundation Support documentation).
  • For storage hardware support with Storage Foundation, please refer to: Hardware Compatibility List.
